Made In I Utensil Set
Designing Premium Dishwasher-Safe Utensils for Made In’s Direct-to-Consumer Cookware Line
Made In is a groundbreaking direct to consumer cookware brand for the new home-cooking movement. As part of our partnership, Doris Dev designed a set of 5 utensils for the Made In brand utilizing premium metal + color combinations all of which are dishwasher safe. The set included a Fish Spatula, Spoonula, Ladle, Tongs, and a Whisk.
We explored multiple design directions and conducted user testing with 3D printed prototypes.
Design Development
Comprehensive Material Testing for Enhanced Product Durability
We heavily reviewed both commercial and consumer products to inform the design process. Various materials were tested, analyzing their pros and cons in relation to key factors such as dishwasher safety and heat resistance, ultimately ensuring a durable, aesthetically appealing product line.
Prototyping
Refining Design through Prototyping and Material Exploration
We explored several design options and tested them using 3D-printed prototypes. Throughout the process, we experimented with different handle shapes, soft edges, and under-grip features to enhance both comfort and functionality. By prototyping various iterations, incorporating stainless steel, and offering a range of color choices, we were able to fine-tune the design to strike the balance between style and function.
