Packaging for Arber's Garden Care: From Shelf to Soil
The current lawn and garden aisle is full of chemicals, synthetics, white bottles, fear messaging, and horrible image experience, much of it is harmful to the user Arber is bringing safe, easy-to-use, and safe products to this space.
Doris Dev partnered with Arber to design and develop the extension of their brand with the packaging and shipper for their Soil Conditioner and Applicator products. To match Arber’s commitment to providing organic plant care that uses professional-quality biological and botanical ingredients, we developed the packaging that would surprise and delight customers at the onset of the brand interaction.

Arber I Soil Conditioner + Applicator
ID Foundation
Doris Dev's goal was to develop packaging that was fully compostable. We included a resealable feature that was also compostable. The packaging needed to effectively insulate the smell, particularly of chicken manure, and be resistant to moisture to prevent any contact with it. Additionally, the product was not to be photosensitive, allowing for visibility of the contents inside, and it did not require ventilation for smaller package sizes.
Designing for Easy Access and Organization
Packaging Concept Development
Design opportunities included creating a bag or vessel that was easy to dump out of and ensuring the ergonomics of the vessel were a key focus. It was important to make sure the opening was large enough to cover large areas, and if using a bag, the zipper needed to be easy to seal. Consideration was given to press-lock packaging, similar to plastic velcro used in some dog and pet food bags. Additionally, incorporating a window with level and measurement markers was identified as a valuable feature.

We aimed to create a one-size-fits-all solution with different inserts to accommodate various product configurations. This included options such as two probiotics, two probiotics plus one five-pound soil conditioner bag, or one probiotic plus one five-pound soil conditioner bag.
