The Durable, Easy-to-Transport, and Stylish Laundry Hamper
Doris Dev collaborated with Nori to design an ergonomic, easy-to-carry laundry hamper that fits into tight spaces while holding ample laundry. Sturdy even when empty, collapsible for easy shipping, and made from lightweight, breathable, and wrinkle-resistant fabric.
To complement their existing success with their easy-to-use hand iron, the new hamper was equally suited to be dubbed the durable and stylized clothing hamper built to live in or out of your closet.

For the first phase of our project, our goal was to understand the specific product requirements of the laundry hamper and identify opportunities for improvement in both the product and user experience. We researched and tested competing products to pinpoint pain points and high points, gathered relevant references, and explored potential design directions. This comprehensive approach helped us create a laundry hamper that addresses consumer needs more effectively and innovatively.
Innovating the Ideal Laundry Hamper through Research and User Experience
Design Development
The laundry hamper was to align with Nori's clean, minimalist brand and can serve as a statement piece in any room. The hamper’s lightweight and easy ability to carry it to and from laundry rooms was a major factor in the development of the idea, as was having a place to store detergent and dryer sheets. We referenced inspiration from outside sources such as bins and other hand-held storage items to pull ideas around handle options, etc. until we came to our final design.

Engineering
When it came to the engineering of the hamper, every detail was to be considered. The Doris team went through various testing and validation phases for components such as the snap button, the magnets, the lid and inside net texture and composition and more. Hidden Magnets on both sides of each hamper allow you to create a capsule system of hampers ideal for laundry separation.

Manufacturing
Validating Practical Features for an Enhanced Laundry Routine
The manufacturing phase ensured that a variety of practical features were tested and validated to enhance your laundry routine. This included the attached magnetic odor-blocking lid and a wipeable, stain-resistant coated poly interior, ensuring that it stays clean and fresh., as well as an interior pouch for storing laundry essentials. The optional magnetic wheel attachment allowed for easy transport, and the buildable magnetic capsule design enabled customizable laundry separation.
The Results
We partnered with the Nori team to launch the Hamper in 2024. It was received with incredibly positive reviews both from the team and the customers.
